Leidos is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide fuze design, engineering, and technical leadership support to DEVCOM Armaments Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct and support R&D activities for the development of novel fuzes and fuze setting systems, including design reviews, hardware fabrication, functional testing, performance evaluations, and experimental validation.
- Lead the development and optimization of fuze designs, incorporating advanced FEA simulations, material selection, and manufacturing process improvements.
- Generate Technical Data Packages using CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks) to create 3D models and 2D drawings of designs, ensuring compliance with MIL, ASME and other applicable standards.
- Prepare detailed technical reports documenting designs, test results, and engineering analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage projects within required budgets and schedules, ensuring alignment with program goals and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, supervisors, customers, and functional peer group managers, to drive informed decision-making and project success.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of a BA degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (advanced degrees preferred).
- 5-7 years of experience in electro-mechanical fuzing and fuze setting systems, including design, testing, and manufacturing.
- Proficiency in commercial CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks) and Configuration Management (CM) tools.
- Experience with FEA analysis (e.g., Abaqus, Ansys) and material selection for high-stress environments.
- Solid understanding of fuze design principles, MIL standards, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills for preparing reports and presentations.
- US citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in relevant field.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
