Job Summary
Avid Technology is looking for a talented Principal Mechanical Engineer to be a member of the Audio Products development. This role is based in Szczecin, Poland on a Hybrid work setup.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving the mechanical design and development of our audio hardware products from concept to production. You will transform ideas into functional, manufacturable mechanical parts and assemblies, with a focus on sheet metal, extrusion, and injection-molded components. Working closely with electrical and layout engineers, you will ensure seamless integration in between mechanical and electrical systems. You will also collaborate with offshore suppliers to enhance product quality, performance, and value, applying your broad knowledge of mechanical engineering principles to deliver innovative and reliable designs.
What You Will Do:
- Participate in the conceptual design phase of new product development.
- Create detailed CAD assemblies and models in SolidWorks based on industrial design concepts and renderings.
- Design components and assemblies using sheet metal, extrusions, die castings, and injection-molded plastics.
- Revise and improve existing product designs to resolve quality, performance, and supply chain issues.
- Create and review 2D drawings in compliance with ANSI Y14.5 standards.
- Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input to ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
- Conduct engineering analyses including thermal, mold flow, stress (FEA), and tolerance studies.
- Collaborate closely with internal design teams and external suppliers to optimize designs and resolve technical challenges.
- Evaluate assembly methods to improve manufacturability and product reliability.
- Perform cost-effectiveness analyses to support design optimization and sourcing decisions.
- Conduct detailed part tolerance analyses to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability.
- Ensure proper electrical and mechanical interface integration across subsystems.
- Document design work thoroughly, including reports, test plans, and engineering change documentation.
What You Can Deliver:
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering field.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including parts, sheet metal, assemblies, drawings, and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, material composition, and material properties.
- Working knowledge of ANSI standards and established mechanical design best practices.
Preferred Skills, Qualities, And Capabilities:
- Working knowledge with Adobe Illustrator.
