What You'Ll Do

You will play a critical role in business partnering with the Director of Technical and leadership team, independently driving key financial initiatives and opportunities to further the Technical agenda. Your focus on Sustainability will involve supporting the delivery and reporting of commitments related to Packaging and Animal Health and Welfare, while leading cost centre management, budget processes, and financial support for legislative compliance on the amount of packaging used and taxes. Additionally, you will be responsible for reducing manual reporting time through automation, providing high-quality analysis, insights, and effective communication to drive strategic business decisions, while actively engaging and developing a network within and outside of the Finance function. Your role will require advanced financial acumen, strong communication skills, and a passion for Sustainability to succeed in this dynamic and challenging environment.

Who You Are

You are a qualified accountant with a strong passion for driving business outcomes through financial analysis, strategic decision-making, and sustainable practises. With advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint, along with a proven track record of working independently and effectively communicating with senior stakeholders, you excel in providing valuable insights, automating processes, and fostering strong partnerships to support the delivery of key business objectives. Your enthusiasm for sustainability, combined with your self-motivation, prioritisation abilities, and forward planning skills, positions you as a valuable asset in shaping and delivering the financial strategy for Sainsbury's Technical Division.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified accountant with a recognised professional certification (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA)
  • Business Partnering experience with a proven ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders in both verbal and written formats
  • Commercial finance experience within a comparable size organisation to Sainsbury’s
  • Evidence of working independently, with effective time management and task prioritisation under pressure
  • Demonstrable stakeholder management and the ability to translate financial information clearly for non-finance audiences
  • Demonstrable proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, power pivots, and macros
  • Demonstrate an interest in and passion for Sustainability
