The System Administrator is responsible for maintaining and supporting the organization’s IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role involves managing servers, networks, and storage systems, as well as monitoring system performance and addressing any issues that may arise. The System Administrator will play a key role in implementing upgrades, automating processes, and supporting end-users, with a strong focus on system uptime, data integrity, and network security.
Responsibility:
Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee, install, configure, and maintain servers, including virtual and physical environments, to ensure maximum availability and performance.
- Manage network resources, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, to maintain a secure and efficient network environment.
System Monitoring And Optimization:
- Monitor system performance, security, and integrity, proactively addressing any issues to prevent disruptions.
- Implement performance tuning measures and capacity planning to meet the organization’s evolving needs.
Security And Compliance:
- Ensure that all systems are secured in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Regularly apply patches, updates, and security enhancements to safeguard against vulnerabilities and cyber threats.
Backup And Disaster Recovery:
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data protection and quick restoration capabilities.
- Regularly test recovery processes and update plans to ensure data resiliency and business continuity.
User Support And Troubleshooting:
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support for escalated IT service desk issues, guiding end-users in resolving complex technical problems.
- Assist in training and educating users on system functionalities and best practices to improve self-service and reduce recurring issues.
Automation And Process Improvement:
- Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline repetitive tasks, enhance efficiency, and reduce manual errors.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements in system management, user support, and security practices.
Documentation And Knowledge Management:
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, system changes, procedures, and policies to ensure transparency and operational consistency.
- Update and expand the IT knowledge base for use by support teams and end-users.
Collaboration And Project Support:
- Work closely with cross-functional IT teams to support technology initiatives, deployments, and upgrades across the organization.
- Participate in IT projects, contributing expertise in systems setup, configuration, and troubleshooting to ensure successful project outcomes.
Qualification:
For a System Administrator in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the ideal years of experience typically range from 2-3 years, with Strong technical skills and knowledge of ICT systems, technologies.
