The Opportunity
As a Cloud Engineer, you’ll play a key role in keeping UniSC’s digital foundation strong and reliable. You’ll be hands-on in managing a mix of on-premise and cloud-based systems, ensuring smooth, secure, and responsive infrastructure services for our staff and students. Working closely with colleagues and partners, you’ll provide expert support and advice, helping us deliver modern solutions that support teaching, research, and the way we connect with our communities.

You Will
- be the go-to for UniSC’s cloud and storage services, ensuring they’re reliable, secure, and future-ready;
- contribute to exciting technical projects by shaping new architectures, policies, and processes that keep us moving forward; and
- work closely with colleagues across IT and the wider UniSC community to understand needs, share solutions, and ensure changes are clear and well-supported.
About You
Our ideal candidate is someone who loves getting into the detail of cloud and storage services while keeping an eye on the bigger picture. You’re confident providing expert support, guiding projects, and making sure everything runs smoothly, whether that’s troubleshooting, shaping new designs, or working with vendors and partners. You’re collaborative at heart, happy sharing knowledge with your team, and comfortable presenting ideas and solutions to stakeholders across the University. Most importantly, you bring a problem solving mindset, a passion for secure and reliable systems, and a genuine interest in helping UniSC stay connected, future ready, and impactful.
You Will Possess:
- Experience in cloud platform deployments in Microsoft Azure.
- Experience in the develop of Infrastructure as code (IAC) with experience in IAC tools like Bicep, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, Azure DevOps or Github.
- Experience in services like Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Active Directory, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, and Azure other Azure resources such as Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Knowledge of cloud networking concepts, including virtual networks, firewalls, subnets, and security groups. Understanding of routing, load balancing, and DNS in a cloud environment
- Understanding team requirement and how to operationalise a technical delivery of a project, including project handover activities, process development and operation.
- Experience of the ITIL framework and processes.
- Well-developed organisational and interpersonal skills.
