Job Description
As a Solution Architect, you will serve as the senior technical visionary and hands-on architect for the Equity Management platform, reporting to the Sr Director of Engineering. This critical leadership role combines strategic architectural thought leadership with deep technical execution - architecting our future while rolling up your sleeves to guide implementation. You will have no direct reports but will provide technical leadership of the architecture team comprised of Principal Applications, Data, and Cloud Engineers, driving technical direction across the entire 100+ person engineering organization.
You will be joining the team at a pivotal transformation point with our application recently migrated to Azure Cloud. You'll architect the strategic optimization of our platform to leverage cloud-native capabilities and determine the next phase of our modernization roadmap. You'll drive database modernization initiatives for read-optimization and tighter integration with modern BI tools. Additionally, you'll continue pushing our AI-first development mentality through integration of agentic AI tools to accelerate development velocity.
This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact modernization initiatives including cloud optimization, database re-architecture, and CI/CD enhancement. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical direction of our flagship platform that serves over 1000 enterprise clients.
Qualifications
Responsibilities
Strategic Architecture & Vision:
- Define and drive long-term technical roadmap through strategic phased modernization initiatives
- Lead architectural decision-making, balancing innovation with technical debt cleanup while maintaining platform stability for existing 1200+ enterprise clients
- Design phased transformation approaches that minimize risk while maximizing value delivery across interconnected initiatives
- Assess and evolve the current 3-tier architecture, determining whether to enhance existing patterns or transition to microservices and/or modern cloud-native approaches
- Evaluate and lead efforts to normalize the database architecture and optimize data models for performance and scalability
- Lead integration and adoption of agentic AI development tools with modern CI/CD practices
Hands-On Technical Leadership:
- Design cloud-native architecture coding patterns replacing legacy Windows services and on-premises infrastructure
- Architect technology stack modernization: .NET Framework to .NET Core/8+ and other platform optimizations
- Lead Azure cloud architecture design ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness
- Design data architecture patterns to migrate business logic from Oracle stored procedures to proper application tiers
- Provide hands-on guidance for complex architectural decisions, proof-of-concepts, and technical risk mitigation
- Drive technology and implementation decisions to improve integrations with customers, partners, and other platforms.
Technical Oversight & Mentorship:
- Provide architectural oversight to Principal Applications, Data, Cloud and Web/Front-End Engineers
- Lead architecture reviews, design sessions, and technical decision-making processes
- Drive technical standards and best practices across multiple engineering disciplines
- Mentor engineering team on modern architectural patterns and cloud-native development
Qualifications
- Minimum 12+ years of hands-on software architecture and development experience, with at least 5 years focused on enterprise SaaS applications leveraging C#.Net Frameworks, Azure Cloud, and Angular.
Architecture & Leadership Experience:
- 5+ years providing technical architecture leadership to senior engineering teams
- Proven track record leading large-scale, phased modernization and cloud adoption initiatives
- Demonstrated expertise sequencing complex technical transformations that balance business continuity with architectural advancement
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
Core Technical Skills:
- 8+ years with Microsoft technology stack (C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core/.NET 5+)
- 5+ years hands-on Azure cloud services and cloud-native architecture patterns
- Experience modernizing legacy applications from .NET Framework to modern .NET implementations
- 5+ years database architecture and migrating business logic from stored procedures to application layers
- Understanding of microservices architecture, API design, and distributed systems patterns
- Experience with modern AI architecture, MCPs, LLMs, and AI driven development techniques.
Modernization & Communication:
- Experience transforming legacy solutions to cloud-native alternatives and enterprise integration modernization at scale.
- Experience with GitHub, infrastructure as code, DevOps practices, and AI-powered development tools
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to influence technical direction through expertise and strategic thinking
- Experience leading technical teams through complex transformations while maintaining system stability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or MBA with technical focus
- Background in financial services or equity compensation domain
- Experience with containerization, Kubernetes, and modern observability practices
- Experience with AI development tools (GitHub Copilot, Devin.AI) and enterprise adoption
