General Summary

Works under the supervision of the Materials Manager. The Inventory Control Specialist's primary job function is to fill and distribute departmental orders and emergency orders by retrieving orders on the computer system, pulling items off the shelf and then updating inventory control computer system. Manages daily "back order" process by utilizing ORMED audit program. Manages the perpetual inventory functions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required

Licensure:

• BMVL required (Must maintain eligibility to drive as determined by SOMC insurance carriers)

Experience:

• Previous experience in warehouse inventory control preferred.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 

  1. Assists in stocking inventory as delivered and enters quantities in the computer system.
  2. Manages daily "back order" process by using Meditech's inventory control audit system.
  3. Fills and distributes emergency orders, department orders, and par level replenishment by retrieving them form system.
  4. Performs bi-weekly cycle counts and annual inventories. Researched any discrepancies and reconciles them.
  5. Assists in determining inventory levels based on usage.
  6. Maintains shelf labeling for stocked inventories through perpetual system.
  7. Maintains a clean and organized medical/surgical supply environment.
  8. Assures all materials handling equipment is maintained in a safe and proper working condition.
  9. Certified to use motorized pallet jack and roll lifts to move large items.
  10. Runs postage through computerized postage system daily.
