Niyam is seeking a Lead Environmental Engineer/Scientist to join our team in support of our work with a federal client. We offer competitive compensation and benefits. This role shall use their knowledge and experience of the natural sciences to provide programmatic, technical, analytical, and administrative support for a variety of environmental functions, including but not limited to environmental compliance, policy development, regulatory analysis, and environmental auditing.

Roles And Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality assurance for environmental audit reports to ensure compliance with regulatory and procedural standards.
  • Develop and deliver engaging environmental training content, both in-person and online; mentor junior environmental staff.
  • Support the client in implementing and updating Environmental Program policies, procedures, and guidance materials.
  • Conduct and support environmental compliance and EMS conformance audits; review and refine audit checklists as needed.
  • Monitor and assess federal, state, and local environmental regulations impacting client operations, providing recommendations for compliance.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining environmental reports, plans, permits, and other compliance documentation.
  • Support emergency response and inspection efforts related to environmental incidents or regulatory reviews.
  • Contribute to continual improvement initiatives to enhance environmental management efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • US Citizen with ability to obtain public trust
  • Bachelor's Degree in environmentally related field
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental work, including knowledge of hazardous materials and hazardous waste regulation. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Demonstrated originality, creativity, and initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support the program, including visits to client field locations and airports within CONUS and OCONUS regions.
