OverviewThe Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting management through the preparation of journal entries, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and analysis. This position ensures the accuracy and timeliness of the monthly close process while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with applicable accounting standards. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of GAAP, thrives in a collaborative team environment, and demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial data, including assets, liabilities, and payroll entries.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly to ensure accuracy and proper reporting.
- Track program costs, revenue, and funding to ensure accurate expense allocation.
- Maintain comprehensive accounting records in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Support accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense management.
- Assist in preparing audit documentation and coordinating external and internal audit activities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline the monthly close process and improve internal controls.
- Assist with government and funder financial reports and filings as needed.
- Provide technical expertise and support to management and other departments.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and best practice implementation within the accounting function.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Active CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience preparing audit schedules and supporting external audit processes.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
