This internship is a part-time opportunity with compensation ranging from $16.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending upon skills and experience. The position can be remote or hybrid, with occasional in-person collaboration in North Bethesda.
What You’Ll Do
- Identify and explore congressional and other data sources, and learn how data are structured for integration into a data product.
- Support data quality and reliability efforts by following established checks and documenting observations.
- Assist cross-functional teams with data-related tasks and coordination.
- Collaborate with colleagues on data processing activities.
- Conduct targeted research on project topics as needed.

- Genuine interest in Legis1’s mission and in using data to inform policy.
- Passion for data, analysis, and learning new tools.
- Enrolled undergraduate student (2nd or 3rd year) pursuing Political Science, Economics, or a related data-focused track; open to applicable work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Interest or foundational knowledge of the U.S. Congress and American politics.
- Strong verbal and written communication, plus active listening skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Basic familiarity with spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets); willingness to learn and grow technical skills.
- Familiarity with databases and subscription services is a plus.
- Interest in government, politics, policy, or advocacy (campaign or lobbying experience is a plus).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize with supervision.
