Role Purpose
The key purpose of the Business Development Executive - Tourism is to develop and execute a robust destination marketing strategy to grow visitation and spend from the international and domestic visitor markets for Chadstone Shopping Centre. The Business Development Executive - Tourism establishes and builds a network of tourism-related partners including industry bodies, Government agencies, international tour and business operators, and inbound tour operators through attendance at tourism events and trade shows as well as targeted pitching and communication. While primarily focused on Chadstone Shopping Centre, the Business Development Executive - Tourism also identifies collaborative opportunities and alignment for Hotel Chadstone, bringing together all of Chadstone as ultimate tourism destination.Please note the below:
- This role is a fixed term contract that will end on 31st August 2026
- The role will commence on the 26th January 2026
Key Accountabilities
Destination Marketing
- Create and execute a dedicated Tourism Strategy identifying key target markets, defining clear objectives and creating an action plan to achieve results.
- Maximise existing tourism programs including the Tourist Shopping Passport.
- Oversee the contract, management and activities of Trade Representatives in China and India and regularly assess and report on agreed KPI’s.
- Oversee the contract, management and activities of the Tourist Shuttle provider and regularly assess overall performance and value.
- Identify new initiatives whether it be product, place or program opportunities to grow the tourism market and cater to the tourist customer.
- Work with the Marketing Manager to create a suite of customised marketing materials that effectively promote Chadstone as Australia’s leading lifestyle destination.
Relationship Management
- Identify and establish key relationships with Government agencies, industry bodies, international and domestic tourism partners and inbound tour operators.
- Represent Chadstone at international and domestic travel industry events, conferences and seminars.
- Schedule and host site familiarisation tours to showcase the Chadstone offer and where possible align with Hotel Chadstone to maximise exposure.
- Data Analysis & Reporting Effectively assess and report on existing and potential programs through a set of clear and measurable indicators of success.
- Provide regular updates on tourism results and achievements to key stakeholders.
- Share insights on broader Tourism Australia and Visit Victoria statistics and activities to review Chadstone’s positioning as a tourist destination and identify opportunities to grow this market.

Experience & Capabilities
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE (what you have done)
- Experience and proven expertise in both international and domestic tourism-related environments, with a demonstrated ability to identify, forge and manage external relationships, alliances and partnerships.
- Well-developed base of relevant international and domestic travel industry contacts would be highly regarded.
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE (what you need to know)
- Thorough understanding of the tourism industry and its distribution systems.
- Sound understanding of financial and commercial terms, good practice planning and budgeting.
- Highly developed interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to prospect and network to drive long-term commercially viable relationships.
- Ability to track, report and assess tourism programs and initiatives to understand success and identify opportunities for growth.
- Strong personal drive and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
