Purpose of Role: As an Intermediate Buyer at Weir Motion Metrics, you will source, procure and manage on time delivery of the components and products required for production and R&D Projects.  This role involves coordinating with vendors, negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.  The buyer plays a pivotal role in supporting continuous improvement, cost reduction, product development and other initiatives to meet Supply Chain goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, pricing, and delivery performance; negotiate quotes, bids, and proposals to secure optimal terms.
  • Create and manage material requisitions and purchase orders aligned with production schedules and inventory goals, using Oracle and planning tools to forecast needs and generate reports.
  • Monitor order status, delivery timelines, and inventory levels; arrange transportation and expedite critical shipments within budget and customer requirements.
  • Conduct monthly audits and inspections to ensure compliance with purchase order terms, address issues with defective or damaged materials, and collaborate with QA, shipping, and receiving teams.
  • Coordinate with production, engineering, and accounts payable teams to ensure timely payments, improve material quality, reduce costs, and maintain strong safety and documentation practices.

Job Knowledge/Education And Qualifications:

  • Accredited degree in Business, supply chain, or a related field and experience in own discipline gained through a 2 to 5years related experience. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency at using computer systems such as MS Office Programs, ERP (Oracle is preferred), Power BI and other related business software
  • Demonstrate initiative, takes responsibility and execute tasks through to completion
  • Prior experience of working in a similar environment and/or vocational training relevant to the role
  • Flexibility and adaptability are critical - Ability to work across teams and regions and with varying customer requirements
  • Develop solid working relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure clear line of sight for business queries, technical issue.
  • Supply Chain related certificates such as CSCP, CPSM or CPP would be considered as an asset.

Compensation: CAD $55,000 to 63,000(depending on experience)

Weir Motion Metrics is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location.
