The staff accountant maintains accurate financial records and ensures regulatory compliance by performing daily accounting tasks such as recording month closing transactions, monitoring accounts payable/receivable entries, reconciling G/L accounts, and preparing financial reports. They often support senior accountants and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and auditing processes, ensuring all activities adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Job Purposeob Purpose

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Account Maintenance: Record month end financial transactions, update the general ledger, and maintain organized accounting records.
  • Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and other accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with the creation and management of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Auditing: Coordinate internal and external audits, preparing necessary documentation and controlling timeliness of requirements.

Qualifications & Skills Requiredlifications & Skills Required:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in accounting operations.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with international or multi-entity accounting, preferred.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Proactive mindset with strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement capabilities.
  • Familiarity with corporate accounting software and ERP systems (SAP and QuickBooks, preferred).
  • Knowledge of technical accounting, financial reporting, and control frameworks.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • GAAP Knowledge, a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform to tight deadlines.
  • Bilingual English- Spanish; additional languages are an asset.
