The role of Buyer is an opportunity to play an important role in high-value military projects, to support the UK armed forces, and to have your ideas and contribution valued in a medium-sized business where people really matter.
The Buyer will use their relationship building, negotiation and system expertise together with their practical experience to support the business in meeting our customers' requirements. The role will work within the procurement team and will be involved in cross-functional project teams.

Role Requirements:
- Support of the Supply Chain Manager and project teams
- Perform routine day-to-day activities associated with the products and services administering and expediting purchase orders
- Managing MRP requirements to satisfy production schedules and implementation of appropriate recovery plans. Shortage reporting and resolution
- Receive Bills of Materials and carry out system checks on materials and services to be supplied to projects and shipping requirements
- Negotiate with suppliers obtaining best price and lead times, resolving any supply chain issues
- Liaises with customers/ suppliers to respond to routine queries regarding contract and supply chain issues
- Provides input to project meetings to answer questions concerning contract/supply chain matters
- Monitoring and measuring process performance producing regular and accurate management information/reports as required
What you will bring to the team:
- Proven ability to build supplier relationships
- An effective communicator with a good understanding of techniques that drive quality and cost improvement
- Manufacturing procurement experience or transferrable skills (including reading technical drawings)
- Experience with Supplier KPI’s and performance management
- Ability to draft standard letters and responses
- Proficient use of MS applications with good understanding of MRP and other planning systems
- Effective problem solving skills
- Experience in an engineering environment would be helpful, but not essential.
Due to the nature of our business, all employment is subject to satisfactory references being obtained, attainment of either a SC (Security Check), DBS Criminal Record Check or Foreign Police Check (whichever is applicable depending on duration of UK residency) and, as applicable, a medical assessment.
