Layout Planner

6 Month Fixed Term Contract 

About The Role:

As the Layout Planner, you will play a pivotal role in optimising warehouse layout and operational efficiency across the Distribution Centre (DC) network. You’ll lead a team focused on improving pick accuracy, reducing double handling, and ensuring seamless product flow aligned with event cycles and customer demand.

Location: Lichfield

Grade: AT4

• Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 08:00am - 16:00pm 

How will you contribute? 

•Develop a comprehensive understanding of DC operations and warehouse management systems (e.g., Matflo or similar).•Analyse site throughput and proactively plan for event cycles, resolving any layout or operational impacts.•Manage product availability in line with customer pick cycles to ensure optimal stock positioning.•Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers to anticipate promotional or product changes that may affect layout planning.•Produce and maintain detailed reports on stock health and operational metrics to inform layout decisions.•Continuously optimise DC picking areas to improve efficiency and ensure products are in the right place, first time.•Lead layout reviews and collaborate with operational teams to implement improvements and share best practices.•Provide clear leadership and guidance to the layout planning and Inbound booking team supporting their development and effective collaboration with wider site colleagues.•Foster strong working relationships across all levels of the operation to drive value and support cross-functional initiatives.•Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities and supporting data-driven decision-making.•Prepare and deliver presentations on warehouse layout and stock flow, covering past, current, and future insights to support engagement and decision-making.•Provide support and cover across other planning functions, including capacity and bookings.

What will you bring? 

•Proven experience in a warehouse picking environment, with a solid understanding of picking and replenishment processes.•Background in planning within a distribution or logistics setting is highly advantageous.•Proactive, enthusiastic, and highly organised with a flexible approach to work.•Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills in a fast-paced environment.•Advanced PC literacy, particularly in MS Excel (including macros, SQL, and database management).•Self-motivated and adaptable, thriving in time-sensitive operations.
