The Accounting department is composed of 3 main segments: supplier, customer and general accounting.
The main mission of the Accounting department is to ensure the recognition of financial flows and to produce the mandatory accounting documents: balance sheet, income statement, appendices. The recognition of flows concerns: - incoming flows: invoices for purchases and overheads, - outgoing flows: customer invoicing, - treasury operations. The Accounting department also manages clients and suppliers by monitoring payments, reminders and disputes. Relations with banks and tax departments are also the responsibility of the Accounting department. In addition, it initiates various internal process improvement projects.
We are seeking a highly experienced Accounting Manager to serve as a key partner to our Finance Director. This is a senior role, demanding a seasoned professional who can drive financial excellence across our Belgian and Luxembourg entities. You will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of our financial operations, while leading a talented team and contributing to the company's overall strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Compliance:
- Oversee the comprehensive accounting operations for multiple legal entities (Belgian and Luxembourg), ensuring timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closures in accordance with group deadlines.
- Provide expert analysis and validation of accounting entries, proactively identifying and resolving complex accounting issues.
- Champion compliance with IFRS, statutory accounting requirements, and internal control frameworks, ensuring robust financial governance.
- Manage and optimize all tax-related matters, demonstrating a deep understanding of relevant regulations.
- Act as the primary liaison with external and internal auditors, fostering a collaborative and transparent audit process.
Strategic Systems Management & Data Integrity:
- Drive the accounting department's ownership and optimization of financial functions within our operational systems, including SAP (FI/CO/MM/HR).
- Lead the accounting and financial validation of system developments, modifications, and interfaces, partnering closely with IT, sales, and customer service teams.
- Ensure seamless reconciliation between operational systems and SAP, guaranteeing data integrity and accuracy.
- Supervise the accurate and timely integration of accounting data into the group consolidation system (HFM).
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and empower a team of approximately 12 professionals, fostering a high-performance culture based on open communication, coaching, and continuous improvement.
- Drive talent acquisition, development, and retention, building a strong and capable accounting team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and develop succession plans to ensure organizational continuity.
- Promote a positive and engaging work environment and ensure adherence to company values and policies.
- Monitor engagement of the team and develop action plan to improve it.
Process Optimization & Strategic Initiatives:
- Continuously evaluate and optimize financial and accounting processes, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
- Contribute to strategic financial planning and analysis, providing valuable insights to support the Finance Director and senior management.
- Actively participate in cross functional projects.
- Contribute to key financial systems upgrade or change.
Your Profile:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- Minimum 10-15 years of progressive finance & accounting experience, with a proven track record of successful team leadership (approximately 12 people).
- Expert-level knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including IFRS, Belgian and Luxembourg tax regulations (TVA/ISOC).
- Strong understanding of internal control principles.
- Advanced proficiency in SAP (FI/CO/MM) and Microsoft Excel, with a strong aptitude for leveraging technology to enhance financial operations.
- Experience with HFM and Essbase is a significant advantage.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
- Proactive, results-oriented, and adaptable, with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong leadership presence, with a passion for developing and empowering teams.
- Proven ability to manage tight deadlines.
- Fluent in French and English, Dutch is a plus.
