Project Manager

Overview

We are seeking a capable and ambitious Project Manager to join our Military Air team at Preston. This role is ideal for someone with a minimum of 2 years’ project management experience who is eager to develop their career within a high-profile defence environment. You will be involved in the delivery of military projects, contributing to national security and technological advancement. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage projects (low to medium complexity) from initiation through to delivery, ensuring scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives are met. 
• Support bid and business development activities, including requirements capture, scope definition, cost estimation, and scheduling.
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, budgets, and schedules.
• Monitor project performance and apply robust control and change management processes.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, escalating issues as necessary.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and customers.
• Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards, customer processes, and legal regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement and contribute to the development of project management best practices.
• Coordinate project resource changes and support team development.
• Report on project progress, KPIs, and support customer satisfaction initiatives.

Qualifications

• HND/degree level within an Engineering, Project Management or Business/Operational Management field or/and be able to demonstrate experience and proven capability.

Essential Skills

• Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies (e.g. MS Project, PRINCE2, Agile).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong financial and analytical skills.
• Proactive approach with a desire to grow and take on increasing responsibility.

Desired Skills

• Experience working on engineering or mission systems within military or defence-related programmes.
• Project Management certification (e.g. PMP, APM) is highly desirable.

Experience

• Experience in project management, ideally within aerospace, defence, or engineering sectors.
