Title: Assistant Accountant
- Reports to: Finance Manager
Location: National Office
- Works with: Clients, Candidates and Internal staff
Statement Of Overall Responsibility
The Assistant Accountant will provide support to the Financial Manager and wider finance team by preparing financial/management accounts, fixed asset registers, balance sheet reconciliations, board reports, statutory returns and accounts payable and receivable.
The Assistant Accountant is also responsible for the finalisation of month and year-end accounts.

Essential Skills / Experience
- Three (3) years minimum experience in Financial Accounting role
- Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines
- Business/Management qualifications
- Attention to accuracy and detail
- MS office, database experience
Desirable Skills
- Accounting qualifications
- SUN Accounting System Experience
- Strong excel skills
- Experience in small team environment
- Experience in the recruitment industry
The Duties
Key Responsibilities
Performance Review Measures (Kpi’S)
Monthly Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Reporting
- Ensure completion of bank reconciliations and obtain sign off per the agreed month end timeframe.
- Assist in preparing month end reports and board reports.
- Perform designated balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
- Maintain fixed assets register
- Prepare designated daily, weekly and monthly reporting (e.g. cashflow daily forecast, Weekly Report, DSO, Workers comp claims cost etc)
- Financial timetables are met
- Monthly preparation of reconciliations is undertaken in an efficient and timely manner
- Journals and reports are completed in a timely manner
Year End
- Involvement in Year End process
- Assist FM in dealing with auditors
- Involvement in Statutory account preparation
- Involvement in preparation of Income Tax return
- Timely and efficient handling of all Year End processes
- Positive feedback from auditors
Statutory Returns
- Involvement with FBT returns
- BAS preparation for the group companies
- IAS preparation for the operating payroll companies
- Payroll tax returns
- ABS returns
- All statutory returns completed by due date
Process And Procedures
- Work with the Finance Manager (FM) to constantly improve internal controls
- Work with the FM to refine and improve processes and procedures
- Involvement in the improvement of financial processes and procedures

- Ensure all activities comply with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, legal demands and professional and ethical standards
- Uphold strict confidentiality, in accordance with Company Policies and Privacy Legislation, when dealing with sensitive information and stakeholder’s personal, financial and business details
