The AEC intern program is designed to provide firsthand working knowledge of engineering activities at AEC. The candidate will develop valuable problem-solving skills while assisting with the support of existing programs as well as the development of new products and processes.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
A task list of assignments will be provided to the engineering student, and he/she will receive support from the AEC engineering staff to accomplish them. The student may be given the responsibility to find solutions to specific engineering activities in support of current program development efforts. Some of the activities and responsibilities may include:
- • Tooling Documentation: Maintain records, drawings, and revision logs for all tooling assets.
- • Audit System Support: Assist in improving internal tooling audit processes and documentation standards.
- • CAD Design Support: Help create and update 2D/3D models for jigs, fixtures, and tooling components.
- • Repair & Troubleshooting: Support minor tooling repairs and document root cause analysis.
- • Process Improvement: Contribute to lean initiatives and tooling efficiency studies.
- • Cross-Team Collaboration: Interface with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure tooling readiness.
- • Technical Reporting: Prepare BOMs, technical documentation, and audit support materials.
- • Design Reviews: Participate in engineering meetings and provide input on tooling usability and safety.
Knowledge And Skills:
A candidate for Engineering Intern is expected to have completed at least two years (three years preferred) toward a BS in Engineering with a GPA of 3.0 (3.5 preferred) or more (preferred Aerospace, Composites, Mechanical or equivalent), and be able to demonstrate competence in one or more of the following areas:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft software (MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel) to enable the creation of work instruction and other production documentation.
- Capability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, with a basic understanding
- Demonstrated experience with CAD software a plus (SolidWorks, AutoCad, etc.)
