Tax Accountant

Purpose
The tax accountant manages the preparation, filing, and reconciliation of federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring EFCO’s tax compliance and supporting financial reporting accuracy.

Essential Functions
Tax return preparation and filing (50%) - Prepare and file income tax and supporting informational returns accurately and timely across multiple jurisdictions.
Tax provision and financial reporting support (20%) - Assist with quarterly and annual tax provisions. Prepare tax-related financial disclosures and supporting documentation.
Tax compliance and regulatory research (15%) - Research tax regulations and support business operations to maintain compliance with evolving tax laws and standards.
General ledger reconciliation and journal entries (10%) - Reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts and prepare adjusting entries as necessary for financial reporting.
Audit support and special projects (5%) - Support internal and external audits and assist with special projects related to tax strategy and process improvements.
Additional duties may be assigned as required by business necessity may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing to meet organizational goals and priorities.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
Experience: 2–4 years of corporate tax experience preferred.
Certification(s) and License(s): CPA or pursuit of CPA certification preferred.
Leadership: N/A
Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with tax compliance software required.
Other Requirements: Strong working knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax regulations. Must have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, time management to meet required filing deadlines, and the ability to work independently while managing confidential information.
