Procurement Manager Job Description
Job Description:
Seeking a highly skilled procurement manager to oversee and optimize end-to end supply chain operations for all material requirements across several business units. This role will require a balance of strategic planning and hands-on execution. The successful candidate will excel in fostering collaboration, driving efficiency and delivering results in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
• Lead a diverse supply chain team, located across multiple sites/regions to ensure timely ordering of materials while maintaining technical, quality, delivery, and cost standards.
• Build strong relationships and communication channels within business units to maintain operational alignment, engagement, and accountability across locations and ensure prioritization that best supports the overall success of the corporation.
• Foster a culture of inclusivity, continuous improvement and professional development.
• Aggregate, analyze and disseminate large amounts of data in a meaningful way to allow for effective management of performance and creation of KPIs.
• Support demand planning and forecasting to align procurement strategies with business requirements.
• Manage supplier relationships to maintain quality, reliability and cost competitiveness as well as identify and mitigate supply chain risks
• Conduct quarterly/annual supplier business reviews, and support the qualification of new suppliers as required
• Lead negotiations and supply agreements that are broadly strategic – balancing quality, lead time, and total delivered cost.
• Lead the development and improvement of standard and efficient work procedures for the buying team.
• Communicate key procurement strategies and initiatives throughout the organization, including to key executive leadership.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.
Preference for individuals located in CT, RI, or Northeastern region of OH, but remote candidates will be considered. Travel up to 25% (40% if outside of preferred regions) will be required.
Qualifications:
• 8+ years strategic procurement experience preferred with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory/leadership role. Preference for individuals with US Navy Shipbuilding/Defense procurement experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or related field preferred.
• Excellent analytical, financial, project management, problem solving, negotiation, communication, organization and team building skills
• Ability to think strategically, confidence to enact strategic plans even in ambiguous situations and driven to follow through.
• Highly skilled in MS Project, Excel, Word, Power-Point
• Strong knowledge of Infor VISUAL ERP and Smartviews preferred
• Comfortable working in remote, typical office and production environments or on the road.
