Position Summary:
The Core Lab Operations Manager is responsible for overall operations of the Core Lab-technical departments. In addition, this person serves as a resource to other testing areas as needed for the development of analytic assays. The Manager is responsible for strategic planning and budgeting to ensure the high-quality testing services necessary to achieve the business and patient care objectives of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee Core Lab operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality testing services.
• Collaborate with the Senior Director to set test systems, schedules, and staffing for optimal service delivery.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, balancing marketing needs with operational expenses.
• Lead quality assurance efforts and drive continuous improvement in chemistry areas.
• In partnership with Medical and Technical Directors, establish policies aligned with CLIA '88, CAP, and other regulatory standards; maintain ongoing CAP readiness and support inspections.
• Support method validation and verification of new assays and instruments; evaluate test menus and recommend improvements.
• Supervise and mentor Core Lab team leaders and technical staff; ensure clear, consistent communication and provide training and performance feedback.
• Oversee all HR-related documentation (e.g., timecards, reviews, training checklists) and ensure timely completion.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on projects, sales efforts, and organizational initiatives.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports covering quality, productivity, financials, and budget variances.
• Ensure departmental compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards; assist in policy development.
• Provide technical consultation to clients including hospitals, labs, physician offices, and industry partners.
• Maintain and update procedure manuals in line with document control processes.
• Support training for students, residents, and fellows; ensure staff competency and professional development.
• Champion department safety initiatives; promote a culture of safety in accordance with company policies.
• Foster external professional relationships and promote process and continuous improvement across the organization.
• Perform additional technical, administrative, or educational duties as needed to support CompuNet’s mission.
Qualifications:
• Medical Technologist.
• 3-5 years demonstrated success and experience in positions of progressively increasing responsibility, with demonstrated skills and abilities. Integrity and accuracy in decision-making and judgment.
• Excellent communication and team building skills.
• Ability to work within specified deadlines and timetables.
• Possible expose to biological or chemical hazard.
Physical & Safety Demands:
• Must have visual acuity and hand-finger dexterity to perform computer-based tasks for extended periods.
• Demonstrate integrity and accuracy in test performance and result reporting.
• Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Maintain composure and professionalism in high-stress situations.
• Potential exposure to biohazardous materials and hazardous chemicals; must adhere to all safety, ergonomic, and health policies.
• Comply with PPE requirements and complete required safety training and health evaluations on time.
• Proactively identify and respond to safety hazards; promote a culture of safety awareness in the workplace.
