Position Title: Deployment Engineer I
$16.83 to $28.85 hourly DOE

Job Summary
The Deployment Engineer position plays a vital role in ensuring quality and timely deployment of our
services to customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed below are a range of duties performed by the employee
and not intended to reflect all duties performed.
• Perform power connections to telecommunications equipment to top of rack power.
• Perform installation and installation commissioning, troubleshooting, and handling optical
transmission systems.
• Responsible for installation and testing of fiber optic patch cords.
• Perform OTDR testing for troubleshooting and fiber acceptance.
• Monitor contractor, vendor and customer co-location installations, equipment placement and
testing.
• Proactively seek and identify potential network problems and address these issues before
becoming service affecting events. This includes action to resolve issues identified during routine
preventative maintenance inspections conducted during defined timelines.
• Participate in local on-call schedule rotation.
• Perform site surveys, identify build pathways, and provide solutions for deployment.
• Communicate the needs of inside plant and outside plant builds to relevant department.
• Update all equipment records and interconnect as-builts into Net-box.
• Perform other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of one year of experience installing, testing, or turning up a variety of
telecommunications equipment including SONET, TDM, DWDM, IP and Ethernet preferred.
• Strong technical, mechanical, and electrical background.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as OSHA/Company safety rules, MSDS, MOP’s,
process, and procedure documents as well as vendor documentation related to equipment owned
by the company.
• Ability to write routine reports, properly fill out documentation such as site surveys and audit
reports as well as effectively communicate with customers, management, peers, and contractors
as well as other members of the organization.
• Ability to deal with issues involving several concrete variables in standardized situations as well
as possessing deductive reasoning skills utilized to improve customer experience and network
performance.
• Knowledge of telecommunications design, installation practices and principals.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents such as vendor deployment guidelines,
white papers, and configuration manuals.
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with customers, team members and other
stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner.
• Highly skilled in problem identification and resolution.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
• Must complete a pre-employment drug screening.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to operate various office equipment such as personal computer, various software programs
including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Visio), and telephone systems.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Ambitious and goal oriented, with initiative to work until job is complete.
• Strong attention to detail is required.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions using information at hand.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends, as well as on call rotation.
• Ability to drive on behalf of the company in a safe and responsible manner.
• Ability to travel to project sites and areas in all weather conditions.
• Ability to perform job from high places (i.e. towers and roofs).
• Ability to be exposed to dust, dirt, noise, insects, and cleaning solutions.
• Ability to work in poorly ventilated during extreme heat.
• Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to work while standing 50 - 70% of the time.
