Thought Machine is looking to grow the Risk and Compliance team by bringing on a new Head of North America Risk and Compliance, who will be responsible for ensuring Thought Machine continues to understand its federal and state legal and regulatory responsibilities in the USA.  Primary duties will be working with the sales teams and prospective clients demonstrating knowledge of the regulations and how we comply with them, monitoring regulations, working with engineering to interpret and implement required regulatory updates, and communication of Thought Machines compliance capabilities with clients and prospects. 
Duties

• Map federal and state by state legislative and regulatory requirements applicable to Thought Machine.
• Working closely with sales teams and prospects to demonstrate knowledge of regulations.
• Identify whether Thought Machine’s existing controls effectively mitigate US regulatory and legislative requirements and create US specific controls for US legislative and regulatory requirements. 
• Ensure Thought Machine meets the USA bank’s requirements for third party risk management and the outsourcing of material services. 
• Prepare Thought Machine for a Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) information technology examination. 
• Ensure that Thought Machine meets the audit standards of US clients and oversee US client / third party audits. 
• Communicate with clients and prospects Thought Machines capabilities and processes to maintain compliance.
• Support the wider global Risk & Compliance team with their duties. 

Requirements

Essential

• Extensive experience working in Risk or Compliance at a fintech or leading financial services management consultancy (specifically covering retail banking or regulatory compliance consultancy for retail banks).
• Be able to demonstrate how you have worked with a product software team to ensure product meets Federal Regulatory requirements and successfully demonstrate this to a banking client or regulatory body.
• Experience of the FFIEC information technology examination. 
• Experience of the Federal Reserve outsourcing guidelines (SR 13-19 Guidance on Service Provider Risk Management).
• Understand the USA data privacy framework (federal and state), including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, New York State Department of Financial Services requirements and the California Consumer Privacy Act.  
• Able to work within a cross functional environment particularly with engineering and delivery functions.
• Able to work in an environment which is fast paced, agile and subject to frequent change; attention to detail is essential together with the capability to learn quickly.
