MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Systems Engineer to join our team in Patuxent River, MD. This is an onsite position.

This position supports the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Systems Engineering Department (SED). This is an opportunity to be part of a team that plays a crucial role in keeping our nation’s military safe and mission successful.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serving as the ATS Systems Engineer and controlling focal point, integrating various disciplines to manage all systems engineering aspects including requirements development, technical planning, and coordination for major support equipment programs and projects
  • Resolving risky, controversial, and unique equipment/operational problems, anticipating technical issues that could impact safety, performance, or reliability and taking appropriate action, recommending project adjustments as needed
  • Influencing avionics commodity system design to minimize maintenance requirements, ensuring supportability, integrated diagnostics, and testability are incorporated, and determining the cost-effectiveness of fault detection and isolation features
  • Formulating solutions and analyzing support equipment, prioritizing reliability, maintainability, safety, quality, operational readiness, and performance, while applying extensive knowledge of systems engineering principles and Naval Aviation Maintenance Policy
  • Applying innovation to specialized assignments, developing new methods and procedures for NAVAIR, providing specialized technical expertise, and reviewing/preparing necessary technical documentation
  • Participating in continuous improvement efforts in conjunction with the NAVAIR quality management system, working in teams to identify and eliminate waste from work/business processes
  • Mentoring junior engineers to maintain high technical expertise within the division, research new developments in systems engineering, and represent PMA260 at conferences, providing technical advice and briefings to higher-level management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university
  • 3+ years of recent and relevant experience in the following:
  • Experience in the application of systems engineering principles to the implementation of avionics support equipment development programs and avionics systems supportability
  • Experience with avionics systems and avionics support equipment
  • Experience with support equipment acquisition processes
  • Experience assessing feasibility of proposed system improvements
  • Experience with integrated diagnostics, testability for avionics systems and avionics support systems development within the systems engineering environment

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have an active Secret security clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Tasking is primarily computer based. 
  • The person in this position must be able to operate and perform tasking on a PC as well as operate other typical office equipment (e.g. copying machine, shredder, projection systems, etc.).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, Customers, and management through email, phone, and other virtual communication methods (e.g. TEAMS, ZOOM).

The projected compensation range for this position is $75,700.00-$126,300.00.
