Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Tax Operations to lead our global tax compliance, reporting, and operational strategy. Reporting directly to the CFO, this executive will own the tax budget and ensure robust tax accounting, controls, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. This role will partner closely with Finance, Controllership, and Legal, as well as external advisors, to deliver efficient and accurate tax operations in a co-sourced model.
This role requires deep technical expertise in tax accounting and reporting, strong leadership skills, and proven experience in multinational, publicly listed environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a co-sourced model and has demonstrated success in managing tax considerations during large-scale acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the company’s global tax compliance and reporting function, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient delivery.
- Own and manage the tax budget, optimizing spend across compliance, advisory, and operational activities.
- Oversee tax accounting processes, technical reporting, and internal controls to maintain accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and SOX
- Partner in a co-sourced tax model with external advisors and internal teams to deliver operational efficiency and quality outcomes
- Drive continuous improvement in processes, leveraging technology, automation, and best practices in tax operations.
- Provide tax leadership on M&A transactions and integration of acquisitions.
- Own transfer pricing compliance and execution:
- Ensure accurate preparation and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation (local files, master file).
- Coordinate with advisors on jurisdictional reporting.
- Reflect transfer pricing policies correctly in tax returns and financial reporting.
- Manage tax audits or disputes relating to transfer pricing.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and Business leaders to manage risks and identify opportunities.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and the Board on tax implications of business decisions.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will be a finance leader with proven experience driving change and transformation within a dynamic and evolving global industry. As a senior leader within the Xerox finance organization, this executive will be vital in making and supporting business decisions that are aimed at facilitating change and improvement within the finance organization and broader corporation.
This finance executive will possess the intellectual agility and business acumen to understand and navigate a constantly evolving technology sector and Xerox’s evolution towards new and innovative technologies.
Candidate Profile:
- 15+ years of progressive experience in tax operations and reporting roles, with at least 5+ years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven experience in a public company environment, ideally within a multinational organization.
- Deep technical expertise in tax accounting, reporting, and internal controls under US GAAP.
- Strong track record of managing and optimizing tax budgets.
- Hands-on experience working in a co-sourced tax model, including management of external advisors.
- Demonstrated experience working with tax auditors at the federal and state level.
- Strong leadership, people management and mentoring skills as evidenced by a proven track-record of attracting, developing, and retaining a highly talented team.
- A bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in a relevant, specialized field (i.e. MSC, MBA, etc.) are required. A master’s in taxation is preferred.
- Candidates with either a CPA or JD in Tax Law are preferred.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including presenting complex tax issues to non-tax executives.
