Buyer - Floor Console

The Ford Purchasing team adds critical value to the entire organization. You’ll help us source the highest quality parts and services from around the globe while ensuring optimal cost and on-time delivery. You’ll also contribute to establishing a robust supply chain so that we can continually produce the vehicles our customers want.
In This Position...
The Floor Console is a large, complex, commodity with an annual spend of ~$500M in controlled turnover. Part of the Cockpit, the Floor Console is highly visible and a critical element of Interior Systems.
What You'Ll Do...
- Manage quality, cost, delivery, and resilience of Floor Consoles over program lifetime
- Understand and set cost savings goals annually to identify pure commercial leverage versus design efficiencies and end-to-end supply chain improvements
- Work with Product Development to understand latest supply base footprint, financial health ratings, technologies, and trends
- Analyze market supply/demand balances and deficit risks
- Align on sourcing component and part requirements
- Work with cost estimating to understand cost drivers and gap analysis
- Conduct regular design reviews with engineering
- Sourcing execution lead (RFI events, tactical sourcing, spot buy, contract admin, etc.)
- POV owner of program-specific sourcing decisions
- Implement sourcing strategy for category, delivering a balanced portfolio of material that meets Ford’s capacity, cost, timing, and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) needs
- Develop new suppliers to address gaps in current supply base
- Manage relationships with existing and future suppliers
- Understand industry and asset specific costs
- Work with suppliers to define integration opportunities within the supply chain
- Look at all existing processes and challenge if improvements could be made, regardless of scale
- Develop material cost roadmaps that deliver corporate objectives and ensure long-term viability
- Lead, and bring to closure, all supplier claim activity
- Support Operational buyers on all resourcing, banking, and operations activities
- Understand and manage forecasted risks and opportunities for your buy
- Formulate and update commodity strategy with cross-functional alignment
- Understand all supplier turnover both tier I and directed tier II
You'Ll Have...
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Engineering or a related field of study
- Minimum of 3 years strategic buying experience
- Proficiency in Purchasing systems and procedures
- Clear understanding of the purchasing program life cycle
- Strong analytical skills (Must be data driven and able to analyze multiple potential scenarios / business plans)
- Strong negotiation skills (creating leverage in both offensive and defensive situations)

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
