Job Overview

The Senior Director, Marketing PMO is responsible for leading the enterprise-wide marketing program management function, ensuring that all strategic marketing initiatives are effectively prioritized, resourced, executed, and measured. This role partners with senior marketing and business leaders to align programs to enterprise strategy, create scalable processes, and drive accountability for delivery against key milestones, budgets, and outcomes.

This leader oversees a centralized PMO team, sets program management standards, and ensures connectivity across brand, channel, creative, digital, product, and operations teams. The Senior Director will be a key driver in evolving the Marketing function from a project execution model to a strategic, outcome-based program management discipline.

What You Will Do

Strategic Leadership & Alignment

  • Partner with CMO and senior leadership to define and manage the portfolio of enterprise marketing programs that deliver on business priorities.
  • Translate enterprise and marketing strategy into actionable program roadmaps with clear success measures.
  • Establish governance frameworks to ensure programs are prioritized based on impact, capacity, and strategic value.

Program & Portfolio Management

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multi-workstream marketing programs across channels, geographies, and customer segments.
  • Manage portfolio-level risk, interdependencies, and trade-offs, escalating issues to senior leadership as needed.
  • Ensure visibility and transparency of program status, KPIs, and resourcing through consistent reporting and dashboards.

Process & Operational Excellence

  • Develop and institutionalize standardized program management processes, tools, and templates.
  • Drive continuous improvement to enhance speed-to-market, efficiency, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Oversee adoption and optimization of program management platforms (e.g., Workfront, Asana, Jira, or similar).

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing Marketing PMO team of 30+ colleagues (program managers, specialists, assistants).
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and problem-solving across the team.
  • Partner with HR to define career paths, training, and development opportunities for PMO talent.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the connective tissue across creative, digital, product, merchandising, operations, and analytics functions.
  • Facilitate executive-level forums to review program progress, resource allocation, and decision-making.
  • Champion change management and ensure organizational adoption of new processes and ways of working.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • Skills You Will Need
  • Strategic Agility: Anticipates future trends and translates them into program strategies.
  • Influence & Collaboration: Builds strong relationships and aligns diverse stakeholders.
  • Operational Excellence: Creates scalable systems and processes to increase efficiency.
  • Change Leadership: Leads organizations through transformation with clarity and resilience.
  • Talent Development: Invests in people and builds strong bench strength.

Who You Are

  • 12–15+ years of progressive experience in marketing operations, program management, or business transformation, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale, complex, multi-stakeholder marketing or business programs.
  • Expertise in program/portfolio management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to link marketing initiatives to enterprise strategy and financial outcomes.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience implementing and scaling PMO processes and tools in large, matrixed organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • PMP, PgMP, or comparable program management certification.
  • Experience leading PMOs within a Fortune 500 or global consumer-facing company.
  • Familiarity with marketing performance measurement, campaign lifecycle, and digital transformation.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
