This is a hands-on position ideal for a quality-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced Agile environment. You will be responsible for designing and executing both manual and automated tests across functional, integration, and user acceptance levels, contributing to the delivery of secure and dependable software solutions.
At CSC, our core values—service, teamwork, tenacity, agility, and genuine connections—guide everything we do. We offer a collaborative culture that supports career development, work-life balance, and community engagement.
CSC is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer who will lead the design and execution of both manual and automated testing to ensure delivery of high-quality software. You will own end-to-end testing across web applications and services, integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with distributed teams. You will also champion QA best practices and contribute to a culture of excellence aligned with CSC’s values.
Some of the things you will be doing:
- Design and execute comprehensive manual test plans and test cases for web applications, covering functional, regression, usability, cross-browser, and performance testing.
- Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts following industry best practices, coding standards, and QA processes.
- Create, organize, and manage test cases and defects using VersionOne (Digital.ai Agility) and ALM Octane.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and scripts using TypeScript (for React), Java, Python, and Node.js.
- Build and maintain E2E, integration, smoke, and regression test suites and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Argo, Jenkins with Groovy, Azure).
- Implement and manage automation tools and frameworks (Bruno, Insomnia, Cypress, REST Assured, Postman, Playwright), including selection, setup, configuration, maintenance, and governance to drive scalable, reliable test automation across teams.
- Conduct thorough functional, UI, and API testing to verify features meet acceptance criteria.
- Perform end-to-end testing across frontend and backend systems, validating UI/UX behavior, API responses, logs, and database integrity.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects with detailed root-cause analysis; collaborate with developers and business analysts for timely resolution.
- Mentor junior test engineers, provide code reviews, and promote continuous improvement in testing practices.
- Communicate testing strategy, progress, reports, risks and results clearly to stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with distributed teams including developers, QA engineers, product managers, and project managers to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery.
- Advocate for QA process improvements, testability, and automation-first approaches.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, mentoring, and team-building activities aligned with CSC’s values.
What technical skills, experience, and qualifications do you need?
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of experience in software testing, with strong hands-on background in both manual and automation testing.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, test strategies, and SDLC/STLC processes.
- Proficiency with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar.
- Experience building automation for web UIs and APIs using TypeScript, Java, Python, and/or Node.js.
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Bruno, and/or frameworks like REST Assured.
- Solid understanding of frontend and backend technologies including HTML/CSS, JavaScript, RESTful APIs, and databases.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices; experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps. Experience integrating tests into pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Argo, Jenkins/Groovy, Azure).
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with iterative delivery and backlog-driven planning.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency in creating detailed test documentation, test plans, and effectively tracking defects.
- Basic proficiency in SQL for data validation and database verification.
Nice To Have:
- Experience with ALM Octane for test and defect management.
- Exposure to performance testing concepts and best practices.
- Understanding of container architecture (OpenShift, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure)
- Understanding of Application monitoring (Elastic, Splunk)
- Experience with AI-first/AI-assisted testing approaches (LLM-driven test case generation, test prioritization and flakiness detection, computer-vision-based UI validation).
- Familiarity with AI testing tools and platforms (BrowserUse)
- Experience using AI assistants to accelerate automation and documentation (GitHub Copilot/Cursor) and leveraging LLMs/AI services (OpenAI, Vertex AI) for synthetic test data generation and API contract testing.
