- Supervise field personnel including union inspectors, General Utility Workers, and contractors, ensuring they understand and follow contract scope, drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct and oversee field inspections to verify contractor compliance with safety protocols, NYC DOB Code, Code 753, and environmental regulations.
- Lead safety and training initiatives such as Job Briefings, JSSEs, toolbox talks, and on-the-job training; maintain a Zero Harm environment.
- Manage project documentation including daily logs, schedules, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, photos, and certifications.
- Coordinate and monitor project costs including budgeting, forecasting, payments, lien releases, and cash flow.
- Handle contractor oversight through systems like COS, manage change orders, and ensure compliance with internal manuals (CAM, ICM).
- Facilitate communication with stakeholders, contractors, engineers, architects, and external agencies to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
- Ensure proper inspections and closeout by coordinating special and 3rd-party inspections, reviewing punch lists, warranties, and final documentation.
- Respond to emergencies and damages including environmental, safety, and system-wide events; prepare investigation reports as needed.
- Maintain certifications and qualifications such as OSHA, CPR, NY State Project Monitor, and others required for field supervision and safety compliance.
- Bachelor's Degree and 2 years field construction, construction management, project management or site superintendent experience
- or
- Associate's Degree and 5 years field construction, construction management, project management or site superintendent experience
- or
- High School Diploma/GED and 7 years field construction, construction management, project management or site superintendent experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or Project Management and 2 years field construction, construction management, project management or site superintendent experience.
- Fundamental background in construction management and be knowledgeable in electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical, construction or Operations, Required.
- Knowledge of the facilities, remediation, electric, gas and/or steam system, Required.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and engineering documents, Required.
- Knowledge of NYC & NYS Construction Codes (Buildings, Highway, Water/Sewer, etc), Required.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental procedures related to working in generating stations, substations, commercial facilities, public streets, tunnels, bridges, etc., Required.
- Knowledge of scheduling, project planning and coordination, Required.
- Knowledge of and ability to manage contract administration procedures, inspection and cost control, Required.
- Ability to interface with external agencies and customers, Required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, written, presentation and technical skills, Required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access Database), Required.
- Knowledge of industry standard construction, means, methods and safety, Required.
- Knowledge of subsurface infrastructure construction (water, sewer, electric, gas, etc.), Required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, contractors/vendors, and personnel at the same time, Required.
- Knowledge of NYS & NYC DOT rules, regulations and permits, Preferred.
- OSHA 30, Preferred.
- Proficiency and knowledge of ProjectWise, Auto-CAD, Micro-station, Microsoft Projects, Primavera, MAXIMO, and/or Oracle Work Management System, Preferred.
- Engineer-In Training Certificate (EIT/FE), Preferred.
- Driver's License Required
- Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
- Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
- Use personal vehicle(s), and be able to transport, store, and secure company laptops and other job-related equipment in vehicle. Acknowledge that reimbursement for use of personal vehicle is available through the company mileage procedure
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
