Job Duties
Norfolk State University seeks applicants for a Full-time, Assistant/Associate Professor of Graphic Design/New Media/Web Design and UX/UI tenure track position, within its Department of Visual and Performing Arts, Division of Fine Arts. The start date is spring 2026 or fall 20206. The successful candidate must possess drive, an appreciation for diversity, and talent to teach some combination of undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of Graphic design/new media/web design and UX/UI in a growing and highly engaged Visual Studies Program. Applications must be submitted by November 30, 2025, for full consideration. The position will remain open until it is filled.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1. An MFA in graphic design, new media, web design or related field2. Minimum of two years teaching experience at a comprehensive four-year college or university.How to Apply Candidates should submit: 1. State of Virginia application. 2. A professional portfolio of at least twenty recent examples of applicant’s design work. 6. A representative portfolio of student design works. 7. Transcripts of highest degree conferred (unofficial transcripts are accepted; however, official transcripts are required of finalists). 8. Three letters of reference. Some requirements must be saved into one file and attached as other to the state application.
- 1. Well versed in mac and PC platforms. 2. Demonstrated experience managing a graphic design laboratory with large format printers and other digital media tools. 3. Evidence of active research and publication in peer reviewed journals in the candidate’s area of expertise. 4. Demonstrated knowledge of working with a diverse student population. 5. Evidence of continuing professional engagement in the field of graphic design
