The Diesel Mechanic will be working on a variety of company owned heavy trucks and trailers ranging from OTR sleepers to Live Bottom Trailers, including troubleshooting and repair: electronic, fuel, ignition, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. While the mechanic will be working mostly independently, all mechanics are expected to be able to work within a team environment to accomplish major projects efficiently and effectively.
What We’Re Looking For:
- Mechanically inclined individuals with a strong interest in diesel technology
- Experience with diesel engines and heavy-duty truck systems preferred but not required
- Technical training or certification in diesel technology; ASE or State of Michigan certification is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and grow—through in-house training, online courses, and mentor-style support
- Our mentors are experienced technicians who’ve advanced through our performance-based structure and offer real-world guidance
In this Diesel Mechanic role, you will:
Diagnose and repair a fleet of Class 8 semi-trucks and trailers, including Freightliner, Western Star, and some International models. Our powertrains include Detroit 60 Series, DD15, DD16, and Cummins X15.
- Work with DT12 and Eaton automatic transmissions, as well as manual 10-, 13-, and 18-speed transmissions.
- Perform routine maintenance and DOT inspections.
- Use diagnostic tools and software such as DiagnosticLink, Cummins Insite, Wabco, Bendix, Navistar, and Edith.
- Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with team members.

- 6 months to 1 year of verifiable diesel mechanic experience
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability and knowledge to diagnose diesel engines, transmissions, and differential projects
- Strong communication skills – team oriented
- Valid drivers license
Preferred Requirements:
- Have a CDL or are willing to obtain one
- Hold ASE certificates in HD trucks.
- Hold a State of Michigan heavy-duty mechanic license
- Are familiar with fleet maintenance software
- Take pride in keeping trucks safe, reliable, and road-ready in a timely manner
Physical Requirements of a Diesel Tech:
- Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds
- Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspection
- Enough vision to inspect repair work
- Ability to use/operate hand tools, power tools, and other heavy machinery
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screen
