Description
It is the responsibility of the Quality Inspector to inspect, and test select purchased and manufactured components/products for compliance with purchase orders, engineering drawings, engineering specifications, work instructions and Company quality standards.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Inspect and test select purchased and manufactured components/products for compliance with purchase order specifications, engineering drawings and specifications, work instructions and SI quality standards.
- Inspect products using various equipment and tools such as micrometers, calipers, various gauges and other measuring tools.
- Test incoming raw materials.
- Accurately record, document and report inspection results in accordance with Company procedures.
- Prepare and complete non-conformance and other department related reports for data collection.
- Identify defective parts and quarantines such parts from production flow.
- Recommend changes and updates to quality policies and procedures in conjunction with the process engineer, production supervisor, and others as appropriate.
- Prepare and make rejection decisions for scrap list review in conjunction with production supervisor, process engineer, and others as appropriate.
- Accurately and completely enters inspection data into electronic databases and ERP system.
- Cross train on different job tasks within the department.
- Participate and/or oversee the assembly of prototypes and verification orders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work overtime as necessary.
- Perform all other job duties as assigned.
Working Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles. Office environment in manufacturing facility. The noise level is usually moderate.
Safety And Personal Protective Equipment:
Must adhere to all safety rules in force for the location you are in while performing your job responsibilities. This includes at a customer or supplier location. Must meet requirements for PPE in specific manufacturing areas when you are in those areas including safety shoes and safety glasses.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
- A post-secondary advanced manufacturing certification or credential (e.g. Mechatronics) is desirable.
- Experience operating a CMM is preferred.
- Job training in basic CAD reading and knowledge of proper use of common inspection equipment is required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in the fluid power industry and/or manufacturing environment is preferred.
Skills And Abilities:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a solid knowledge of ERP software, spreadsheet software and word processing software; SAP experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, routing and inspections sheets.
- Capability to obtain forklift certification to drive a forklift, including RAYMOND upright trucks and Wave machines.
Other Requirements:
- Possesses knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation.
- Maintains confidentiality when working with company proprietary information.
- Ability to identify and resolve practice problems in a timely manner.
