What is the job about?

Grundfos, a Great Place to Work® certified company, is seeking an experienced Senior Area Sales Manager to lead a team responsible for managing industrial water treatment OEM key accounts in North America. 

For a defined Area of Primary Responsibility (APR) (Geography, Markets, and Accounts), you will provide leadership and management for your respective team and to ensure that Grundfos is delivering on our financial goals and objectives.

In addition, you will maximize value throughout the direct sales channel directing activities and process improvement in accordance with the need of OEMs and Key Accounts.  You will focus on the development of your team, as well as the individual professional development of your team members.

In this high impact leadership role, you will be the owner of the OEM strategy in your APR and work in collaboration with your peers on the Key Account, Distribution, IEM and Sales Development Team.

You will report to the Vice President Sales – Industry OEM and Key Accounts and participate as an active member of the leadership staff for North America OEM/KA.

This role operates remotely out of a home office, can be based anywhere in the US and must reside near a major airport.

Your Main Responsibilities:

Strategic Sales Leadership:

  • Own and execute the annual and long-term sales strategy for your APR, driving top-line growth and profitability while actively contributing to OEM/Key Account leadership planning.
  • Develop and execute a 5-year A3 (x-matrix) strategic sales plan and actively contribute to the OEM/Key Account leadership team’s strategic planning and execution.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing sales team—ensuring professional growth, value-based selling, and timely execution of key deliverables across reporting, budgeting, and pipeline management.

Process-Driven Sales Management:

  • Oversee all aspects of regional sales operations—including customer acquisition, forecasting, budgeting, partner/channel strategy, and reporting—aligned with Grundfos Commercial Excellence standards.
  • Champion the use of CRM tools to manage accounts, opportunities, and pipeline activities, ensuring data-driven decision-making and strategic alignment across the APR.

Cross Collaboration:

  • Work with other ASMs, Service Delivery and Aftermarket Managers and other functions in the regional team to foster open dialogue, develop a collaborative team environment and culture, create a strong morale and spirit within the team; promoting the sharing of wins, successes and challenges for Grundfos.

The Grundfos brand & Social Responsibility:

  • Represent the Grundfos brand with professionalism and support company-sponsored and community-based social responsibility initiatives.

Your Background

We Imagine That You Have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering preferred) or in Business. Equivalent work experience is also acceptable.
  • 10-15 years’ experience in a sales/marketing, business development environment.
  • 3 years prior experience managing people, preferably a sales team.
  • Professional sales skills including key account strategies and plans.
  • Experience with sales/data analysis and forecasting.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Water Treatment market in the US or North America.
  • An understanding of pumps and pumping systems, rotating equipment including electronically controlled pump systems (VFD, controllers, etc.) used within the water treatment market would be an advantage.
  • The ability to start with “the end in mind”, then work backwards to develop strategies, action plans, and goal measurements.   Develop a clear vision of what your region will become and how your will develop.
  • The ability to develop and deliver effective product presentations for all sizes of audiences for both internal and external customers.
  • The ability to manage individual expense budget and work with regional team to plan and stay within the regional expense budget
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent PC skills with above average knowledge and use of Microsoft Office application programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned area either by car or airplane (50% travel).
  • Ability to travel internationally (maintain an active passport).
