Burrow Global is seeking a Process Engineer for our Beaumont Office. At Burrow Global, the Process Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting all project phases, strongly emphasizing front-end engineering and detailed design support. As a supporting process engineer, you will be assigned to projects and tasked with ensuring seamless coordination and effective communication among various engineering disciplines and our valued clients.
Regrettably, candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship or the need for future sponsorship. This position necessitates on-site presence; unfortunately, relocation assistance is unavailable for this role.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the lead process engineer to develop process design and associated deliverables, including process design basis, process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and cause and effect matrices.
- Collaborates with the lead process engineer to define the approach needed to solve hydraulic, heat, and mass transfer problems, including identification and collection of field data/client information. Develops an appropriate model to solve the problem, effectively analyzes and interprets results, and recommends solutions to achieve our client’s objectives.
- Sizes and specifies pressure relief devices by client requirements and relevant codes and standards (e.g., API Standards 520/521, ASME Section XIII).
- Sizes equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, mass transfer equipment, pressure vessels, etc. Supports mechanical engineers through the development of technical specifications and drawing reviews.
- Develop deliverables to document required operating and design conditions for piping, instrumentation, and equipment (e.g., line lists and instrumentation datasheets).
- Supports process hazard analyses (PHA) as a participant and assists in resolving action items.
- Performs hydraulic calculations for piping systems using various modeling tools and software.
- Review vendor drawings to ensure that process technical requirements are met.
- Communicates regularly with the project team and Burrow Global’s clients to convey technical information, identify problems, and develop solutions that achieve project objectives promptly.
- Provides support through detailed engineering to provide continuity, assess the impact of proposed changes, and support quality assurance/control for the project.
Education And Work Experience
- The candidate should have a BSc in chemical engineering from an accredited university and 2+ relevant years of experience.
- The candidate must thoroughly understand chemical engineering principles, including heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, transport phenomena, fluid flow, and hydraulics.
- The candidate must have excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills and be able to develop and execute a plan to identify and solve technical problems.
- The candidate must have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to convey technical concepts clearly and concisely to a wide variety of audiences.
- The candidate must be able to produce quality work within the constraints of the project.
- The candidate should demonstrate flexibility, good time management/organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Candidates with previous plant experience are preferred.
- Candidates for this position must be eligible to work for any employer without a visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Eligibility to obtain or currently hold a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required.
