Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the Project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
  • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
  • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
  • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, ensuring all site activities comply with local and industry regulations. o Conduct daily safety inspections, identifying potential hazards, and implementing preventive measures.
  • Lead safety briefings and toolbox talks at the beginning of each shift, emphasizing safety in all operations.

  • Oversee the quality of the data obtained by manual monitoring crews.
  • Conduct regular inspections to detect deficiencies in manual monitoring crews’ performance.
  • Supervise the installation of monitoring points as well as reference control points to ensure the quality of the geometry.
  • Coordinate with crews to ensure that the instrument verification procedure is monthly performed.

  • Keep the Manual Monitoring Survey instruments inventory updated.
  • Maintain Monitoring Control Point data base.

Coordination And Communication:

  • Coordinate with other shift engineers, subcontractors, etc. to ensure that our crews can access the site and perform their duties.
  • Participate in shift handovers, ensuring that all critical information is communicated clearly to the incoming team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geomatic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in surveying and 3 years of experience leading teams.
  • Proven experience in coordinating activities with different departments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and best practices in construction.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software and tools for documentation, reporting, and quality control.
