Based out of our Winnipeg office, we’re looking for a well-rounded Civil Engineering Technician / Technologist (C.E.T.) who brings a mix of field and design experience, someone who enjoys being out on a survey one week and contributing to design, drafting, or construction support the next.
At Burnside, the difference is our people. We foster a welcoming and collaborative culture where you’ll be supported by colleagues across disciplines and offices. Our teams work with municipal, Indigenous, and private sector clients on diverse civil infrastructure projects including land development, municipal roadways, linear infrastructure, drainage and hydrology, water/wastewater systems, and stormwater management.

You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting Professional Engineers and technical staff on a variety of civil engineering projects. Your work will include a balance of field and office responsibilities such as:
- Conducting accurate topographic, layout, and construction surveys using GPS and other survey equipment.
- Maintaining detailed and accurate field notes, records, and sketches.
- Preparing AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings for preliminary and detailed design.
- Assisting in the preparation of engineering drawings, tender packages, and cost estimates.
- Conduct field Inspections and construction reviews of civil works, documenting as-built conditions, and assisting with contract administration tasks (RFIs, change orders, and deficiency reviews).
- Collaborating with engineers and project managers to advance design techniques and improve project efficiency.
- Helping where needed across the team, whether that’s field work, drafting, or design support to keep projects moving smoothly.
What You Bring
- Diploma/Certificate in Civil Engineering Technology (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 2+ years of related experience, including survey work using GPS and other equipment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D is an asset).

- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.) and PDF editing software.
- A strong sense of initiative, attention to detail, and commitment to client service.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for field work.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Meaningful, community-focused projects across Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario.
- Supportive environment where collaboration and knowledge-sharing are encouraged.
- Opportunities to work on a variety of project types that expand your skills and experience.
- Flexibility to apply both your technical field expertise and civil design knowledge in a balanced role.
