About The Role:
Modular is hiring our first Growth Marketing Manager to build and own our demand generation engine from the ground up. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role for someone who lives in the data, runs experiments relentlessly, and knows how to turn technical products into scalable pipelines. You'll work at the intersection of PLG and sales-led motions, building the systems and strategies that drive qualified leads to our sales team while optimizing self-serve conversion. This role requires deep technical fluency - you need to understand developers, speak their language, and craft campaigns that resonate in highly technical environments.
LOCATION: Candidates based in the US or Canada are welcome to apply. You can work in our office in Los Altos, CA or remotely from home. Onboarding for new hires is conducted in-person in our Los Altos, CA office.
What You Will Do:
- Build the demand generation engine: Own pipeline numbers end-to-end, from strategy through execution, establishing the systems and processes that generate qualified leads at scale.
- Manage and optimize paid acquisition: Design, launch, and continuously optimize paid campaigns across LinkedIn, Search Engines, Answer Engines, and other channels to drive cost-effective lead generation and conversion. Work with Design and Content writers on creative assets you need to execute your vision.
- Drive rapid experimentation: Run high-velocity A/B tests across channels, messaging, and audiences; measure ruthlessly and scale what works
- Implement User segmentation and targeting: Build segmentation models that identify high-value prospects, personalize outreach, and optimize conversion paths for different user personas and buying stages, using tools like LinkedIn retargeting, Clay, Customer.io, Semrush, and other tools that you prefer.
- Own analytics and ROI: Establish KPIs, track performance across the funnel, and provide actionable insights that inform strategy and budget allocation
- Develop hybrid GTM strategy: Design and execute campaigns that work for both product-led growth (self-serve) and sales-led (enterprise) motions, understanding how to optimize each path to conversion
What You Bring To The Table:
- 5+ years of growth marketing experience in B2B SaaS and developer-focused products, with proven success driving pipeline and revenue in technical environments
- Hands-on expertise with optimizing campaign conversion and ROI across Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Reddit, and other performance channels
- AI Tooling: Deeply understand AI tool and being able to utilize agentic workflows to capitalize on growth opportunities
- Deep analytical and data science skills: Proficiency in building attribution models, user segmentation, cohort analysis, and leveraging data to drive decision-making using technical tools and writing SQL easily
- Framework-driven approach: Natural tendency to build systems, document processes, and create playbooks that turn one-off successes into repeatable growth engines
- Case studies that prove impact: Concrete examples of successful paid advertising and SEO campaigns you've owned, including metrics on lead generation, conversion rates, and ROI
- Experience in AI or highly technical products: Previous work marketing to developers, engineers, or technical audiences; you understand how they evaluate tools and make decisions
- Dual-motion experience: Track record working with both PLG self-serve funnels and sales-led enterprise motions, but not necessarily at the same time
- Builder mentality: Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment as the first marketing hire, rolling up your sleeves to execute across strategy and implementation
- Cross-functional collaboration: Proven ability to partner effectively with Sales, Product, Developer Relations, Customer Success, and Design teams to align on goals and execute campaigns
- Startup experience: working in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment, with shifting priorities and high autonomy
