Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Learning Engineer (Onshore - US), to lead our efforts in understanding, predicting, and mitigating customer churn. This critical role will be instrumental in developing and implementing a comprehensive, data-driven retention strategy that directly impacts our customer lifetime value and overall business growth.

You will be responsible for diving deep into our customer data, identifying key churn drivers, building predictive models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and optimize targeted intervention strategies. This is an exciting opportunity for a data-savvy individual with a strong business acumen to make a significant impact on our customer retention and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

Churn Analysis:

  • Lead the end-to-end process of churn analysis, from data extraction and cleaning to model development and deployment.
  • Develop and implement advanced statistical and machine learning models (e.g., survival analysis, classification models, time-series analysis) to predict customer churn with high accuracy.
  • Identify and analyze key churn indicators, patterns, and segments across various customer touchpoints and product usage data.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to uncover root causes of churn and identify actionable insights.

Retention Strategy Development & Optimization:

  • Translate analytical insights into concrete, data-driven retention strategies and actionable recommendations for product, marketing, sales, and customer success teams.
  • Design, implement, and analyze A/B tests and experiments for various retention initiatives (e.g., personalized communications, feature adoption campaigns, win-back programs).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize and implement retention strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Continuously monitor the effectiveness of retention initiatives and iterate based on performance data.

Reporting & Visualization:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive dashboards and reports to track key churn and retention metrics, providing clear visibility into performance and trends.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings and strategic recommendations clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences through compelling data visualizations and presentations.
  • Establish robust feedback loops to continuously refine churn prediction models and intervention strategies based on real-world outcomes.

Data & Technology Expertise:

  • Leverage expertise in GCP (Google Cloud Platform) and BigQuery for efficient data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Work with large, complex datasets, ensuring data quality and integrity for accurate analysis.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and new analytical techniques in churn prediction and customer retention.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on churn and retention, providing guidance and insights to various teams.
  • Partner closely with Business owners and Product Managers to identify product-led retention opportunities and inform roadmap decisions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • 2-3 years of progressive experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or data science roles, with a strong focus on customer churn analysis and retention strategies.

Data Analysis & Modeling:

  • Proficiency in Data Analysis: Expert-level SQL skills for querying and manipulating large datasets.
  • Statistical Techniques: Strong understanding and practical application of statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, time-series analysis, and various machine learning algorithms (e.g., Logistic Regression, Random Forests, Gradient Boosting, Survival Analysis) for predictive modeling.
  • Programming: Advanced proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn) or R for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and model development.

Data Visualization:

  • Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or similar platforms to create insightful dashboards and reports.

Cloud & Data Warehousing:

  • GCP (Google Cloud Platform): Hands-on experience with GCP services, particularly BigQuery for data warehousing and analytics.
  • Experience with other GCP services like Cloud Storage, Dataflow, or Vertex AI is a plus.

Business Acumen:

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable business recommendations that drive measurable results.
  • Strong understanding of customer lifecycle management, customer segmentation, and key business metrics (e.g., LTV, CAC, ARPU).

Preferred Qualifications (Good-To-Have):

  • Experience in working on Churn analysis in Telco domain.
  • GCP Professional Machine Learning Engineer certification.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks and experimental design.
  • Experience with customer feedback platforms and sentiment analysis.
  • Experience with MLOps practices for deploying and monitoring models.
