The Private Equity Funds Accounting Manager is a dynamic professional with proven experience in accounting. This role applies advanced accounting principles to analyze financial data, review work prepared by team members, and ensure all accounting and reporting aligns with operating agreements. The manager oversees fund accountants and is responsible for meeting all audit, tax, and investor reporting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee profit and loss statements and monthly closings using GAAP equity method for private equity funds and portfolios.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge in consolidations, equity method accounting, and GAAP financial statement presentation.
  • Guide fund accountants in compiling and analyzing financial data, preparing general ledger entries, and documenting transactions.
  • Establish, maintain, and implement accounting controls and procedures.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and draft memos as needed; write clear footnotes for quarterly and annual reports to explain complex transactions to investors.
  • Develop and refine processes for fund accountants to enhance team efficiency.
  • Communicate accounting policies and reports to staff, investors, and owners.
  • Review and manage debt and hedge reporting.
  • Collaborate with external auditors for audits and tax requests.
  • Prepare and review investor-specific reports; serve as the primary contact for fund operations across multiple real estate funds, delegating tasks as needed.
  • Calculate and interpret performance metrics such as IRR, cash yields, and equity multiples.
  • Oversee investor capital accounts and accrued preferred return waterfalls.
  • Translate operating agreements into actionable responsibilities, including fee calculations, deadline management, report preparation, and capital call notifications.
  • Prepare summary analyses for executive management, offering recommendations for various scenarios.
  • Manage the quarterly distribution process.
  • Lead assigned projects to improve operations and drive efficiencies.

Required Skills And Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting consolidation rules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with Yardi Systems and Workiva software is a plus.

Education And Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 5–7 years of accounting experience (private equity experience preferred).
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • At least 3 years’ experience at a public accounting firm preferred.
