Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Vice President Data Management & Governance to lead the execution and evolution of a comprehensive audit data management and governance practice ensuring data quality, security, compliance, and accessibility of data across Corp Audit (CA). The incumbent will have the following experience:

  • Strategic Responsibilities of Data Governance & Controls, Audit Data Domain Management and Enablement, Data Investment Support, and Data Governance Center of Excellence.
  • Operationally providing data governance risk oversight and remediation as data steward delegate and supporting management in performance reporting, continuously looking for ways to automate performance reporting.
  • Collaboration within CA and outside with GTS, CDO, 2LOD and Cyber Security Communities for sharing best practices and alignment to Enterprise Data Management and Data Protection policies.

This team Fuels analytics and enable fact-driven risk assurance through rigorous data governance and operational excellence. The outcome of this role will establish resilient data governance practice, support leadership teams to make informed, data-driven assurance decisions and to monitor the performance of the CA data management portfolio while adhering to Enterprise and IIA data standards.

What you will be responsible for

As Vice President Data Management & Governance you will be responsible for:

  • Audit Data Domain Management & Enablement – Enable operational data quality through identifying and applying Standards of Care (SoC) to Critical Data Elements (CDE) informing critical business processes and reports at CA. Build and oversee the Audit Data Domain in partnership with the CDO. Automate data governance metrics and enhance quality controls.
  • Data Governance & Controls - Implement consistent data standards and ensure regulatory compliance. Identify, assess, and mitigate data-related risks across CA. Champion best practices and act as CA’s data governance advisor. Represent CA on enterprise data councils to align priorities.
  • Operational Responsibilities (Risk Oversight & Remediation) - Oversee governance and quality of CA data products and dashboards. Automate reporting, manage metadata, and integrate Collibra for governance.
  • Communication / Collaboration / Behavioral - Deliver actionable data insights and guidance to leadership. Partner with enterprise teams and uphold SS core values.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years working with large financial institution performing data management and governance function
  • Strong Data Analytics skills – ability to create a story from analysing data for executive reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree - STEM desired.
  • Relevant work experience in Internal Audit functions at a financial services company or comparable experience working as an advisor for a financial services company preferred.
  • Working experience in the application or reporting development experience with exposure to analytics and visualization tools such as SQL, Tableau, and Power BI.
  • Solid understanding of statistical methods with an analytical mind and an ability to solve problems with MS Office Suite Programs. Some exposure to programming skills (Python and SQL) is desired
  • Exposure to Power Apps and Power Automate is desired.

Additional Requirements

While majority of the time you will work from your primary location, some domestic and international travel may be required to a variety of locations where State Street operates.
