Job Description
At Aberdeen, our ambition is to be the UK’s leading Wealth & Investments group.
Strengthening talent and culture is one of our strategic priorities. We strive to make Aberdeen a great place to work so that we can attract and retain the industry’s best talent.
Our people put our stakeholders at the heart of everything they do by helping us to make a positive difference to the lives of our clients, customers, colleagues, shareholders, and society.
We are focused on growing our direct and advised wealth platforms and repositioning our specialist asset management business to meet client demand. We are committed to providing excellent client service, supported by leading technology and talent.
Aberdeen comprises three businesses, interactive investor (ii), Investments, and Adviser, each of which focuses on meeting and adapting to our clients’ evolving needs:
- interactive investor, the UK’s second largest direct-to-consumer investment platform, enables individuals in the UK to plan, save, and invest in the way that works for them.
- Our Adviser business provides financial planning solutions and technology for UK financial advisers, enabling them to create value for their customers.
- Our Investments business is a specialist asset manager that focuses on areas where we have both strength and scale to capitalise on the key themes shaping the market, through either public markets or alternative asset classes.
About The Department
We’re committed to a product operating model where teams are empowered, autonomous, and accountable, giving you the freedom to innovate and own solutions from concept to delivery.
Join a forward-thinking team at the heart of Aberdeen’s Adviser business, where we lead the end-to-end design, discovery, and delivery of cutting-edge digital products and services for Financial Advice firms.
If you’re passionate about delivering real impact, our focus on customer and business outcomes will give you the opportunity to make a tangible difference.
You’ll be part of a team that values collaboration, autonomy, and a growth mindset, helping us stay at the forefront of the market as we design digital experiences that supercharge advice firms to delight their clients.
About The Role
As a Product Designer, you’ll help shape how we discover, design, and deliver value across our digital products for Financial Advice firms. You’ll turn insight into clear journeys, flows, and interfaces—raising the quality and coherence of the experience and making it easier for advisers and clients to get things done.
You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Content Managers, Engineers, Analysts, and other Designers from discovery through delivery. You’ll contribute to research and ideation, craft polished designs, and bring teams around a shared understanding of the problem and the solution. You care about the details, you’re thoughtful about accessibility and compliance, and you use evidence to iterate and improve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver well‑crafted, accessible and responsive designs across journeys —from framing the problem to prototypes ready for build.
- Translate research and insight into clear flows, wireframes, and content that solve real user needs in context.
- Map and improve end‑to‑end journeys, spotting gaps and inconsistencies and proposing pragmatic ways to close them.
- Communicate design decisions clearly, seek feedback early, and iterate based on evidence and team input.
- Collaborate with Product Managers on scope and priorities, ensuring the right problems are tackled at the right time.
- Partner with Engineers to validate feasibility, cover states and edge cases, and support smooth handover and release.
- Apply accessibility and inclusive design best practices, and ensure designs are ready for compliance review.
- Contribute to our design system—reusing patterns where it makes sense and suggesting enhancements when it doesn’t.
- Support usability testing and evaluation; help plan, observe, and synthesise findings to inform what we ship next.
- Surface risks and dependencies early and contribute to the comms and artefacts that help teams launch with confidence.
About The Candidate:
- Experience delivering product design in agile, product‑led teams.
- Figma and FigJam skills and a good eye for detail.
- Comfortable working with a design system and contributing thoughtfully to shared patterns.
- Confident mapping journeys and designing end‑to‑end flows.
- Familiar with planning and acting on usability testing and other research methods.
- Clear communicator and storyteller—able to explain trade‑offs and bring stakeholders along with you.
- Systems thinker with solid problem‑solving skills and a pragmatic, delivery‑minded approach.
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design standards, and how to apply them day‑to‑day.
- Collaborative, proactive, and resilient—keeps momentum when priorities shift.
We are proud to be a Disability Confident Committed employer. If you have a disability and would like to apply to one of our UK roles under the Disability Confident Scheme, please notify us by completing the relevant section in our candidate questionnaire. One of our team will reach out to support you through your application process.
