A Day In The Life

The Clinical Business Manager (CBM) will report to the VP of U.S. Field Sales & Clinical.   A successful CBM will have previous clinical leadership experience and a strong record of performance, accountability, and managerial courage. clinical experience in diabetes space and domain expertise in diabetes technology. The CBM will lead and provide strategic direction for all regional field clinical activities including delivering a 5 star patient training experience, adherence to all quality assurance KPIs, HCP education and development, and internal and external trainer development. The CBM will lead, advise, and execute change management related to clinical transformation initiatives and organizational transformation. The CBM will partner with the Regional Sales Directors and cross functional leaders to create a culture of diversity and equality. The CBM will provide an in-depth understanding of the healthcare provider landscape at the national and regional market levels to influence regional growth strategies. 


This is a field based position that will support our West- US Region. This region covers the; California, Texas, Montana, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Hawaii. The expectation is to travel and be in the field about 50% of the time and remote the remaining time. Candidates must reside within the region.

  • Partner with the VP of Sales & Clinical and Regional Sales Director(s) to provide strategic and motivational leadership as the clinical business owner for national and regional organizations
  • Lead and execute clinical programs and initiatives to optimize resources, drive business results, and improve patient outcomes.
  • Use key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities and set critical clinical objectives for each fiscal period.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve business goals, focusing on:
  • Annual operating plan (AOP)
  • Patient Retention

  • Service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Net promoter score (NPS)
  • Trainer Program Management

  • Oversee trainer strategy, quality, compliance, and budget efficiency at both national and regional levels.

  • Collaborate with commercial teams and manage external trainers to support therapy advocacy and improve patient results.
  • Act as a key driver of clinical change initiatives nationally and regionally.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insulin products and emerging technologies, providing clinical updates and serving as a subject matter expert (SME).
  • Serve as a liaison and consultant between field, clinical, commercial teams, the Clinical Center of Excellence, and enabling functions.
  • Foster relationships with sales leaders to ensure effective information flow on product needs and market conditions.
  • Manage expenses within budget to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Participate in conventions and meetings to enhance product awareness and understand market dynamics.
  • Work independently while actively promoting Medtronic’s core mission, strategies, policies, and Code of Conduct.

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience (medical device/pharmaceutical/healthcare industry experience in people or program management, project management, field clinical specialist manager, or clinical education/training manager)

  • Advanced degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (medical device/pharmaceutical/healthcare industry experience in people or program management, project management, field clinical specialist manager, or clinical education/training manager).  

Nice To Have

  • Ideal candidates will have current clinical licensure (RN, RD, NP, PA, PharmD, or CDCES) 
  • Prior experience leading high-performance sales teams in the medical device industry 
  • Demonstrated business planning, consulting, and territory financial analysis skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills  
  • Experience in identifying economic drivers to maximize performance 
  • Strong data analysis, evaluation, and problem-solving skills 
  • Effective understanding of profitability and ability to balance company and customer goals
  • Skilled in analyzing diverse and complex problems using data-driven evaluation
  • Sound judgment in selecting appropriate methods and techniques within defined policies

Field Roles: Must have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy. In addition, your driving record will be reviewed and will be considered as part of your application. Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$143,000 - $147,000The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), which provides the opportunity to earn significant incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your goals.
