Head of HSER North EMEA

DS Smith is now hiring a Head of HSER for the North EMEA region.  

About the Role 
 
We are seeking an experienced Head of HSER Manager to lead Health, Safety, Environment & Risk across multiple sites in North EMEA. This role combines sub-regional strategic oversight with hands-on engagement at the country level, ensuring local site teams are supported in implementing HSER policies and maintaining compliance with both regional and local regulations. 
 
You will translate corporate and divisional HSER standards into actionable sub-regional plans, provide coaching and guidance to site managers and HSER coordinators, and conduct audits, inspections, and compliance reviews. Monitoring corrective actions, tracking KPIs, and analyzing HSER data to identify trends and support underperforming sites will be key aspects of the role. 
 
As the visible face of HSER leadership in the sub-region, you will foster a strong safety culture, actively engaging with leadership teams and employees. You will also partner with divisional and site teams to ensure alignment, drive continuous improvement, and embed best practices across both the sub-region and individual country operations. 

 
This role reports to Supply Chain & Operations Director North EMEA and can be based at either of our North EMEA sites. 

Qualifications

• • Strong expertise in HSER across multiple countries and sites 
• • Solid background in manufacturing environments 
• • Proven experience in HSER leadership, ideally in manufacturing 
• • Knowledge of related areas such as product development and operational excellence 
• • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills 

The right candidate likely has a similar, local role today, and is now ready to shoulder a greater area of responsibility.  
 

This role requires excellent language skills, oral and written, in English as well as an additional Baltic or Nordic language.
