DS Smith is now hiring a Sustainability Manager for the North EMEA region!
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sustainability Manager to join our team at DS Smith North EMEA. In this role, you will be responsible for positioning our company as an industry leader in sustainability and enhancing customer relationships by communicating our sustainability and circularity agenda.
Your key responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities. You will act as the central point of contact for all sustainability-related matters within our community, handling customer requests, questionnaires, and individual inquiries on specific topics with expertise. Additionally, you will proactively promote our outstanding sustainability efforts to support top opportunities and tenders, increasing our success rate.
A crucial aspect of your role will be influencing our sustainability agenda to align with specific market needs and requirements, and you identify best-in-class examples and case studies that can be effectively utilized for internal and external communication purposes, collaborating closely with the Marketing Communications Manager.
Representing DS Smith at customer meetings and external events will be an integral part of your responsibilities, as will ongoing or upcoming legislative changes, market trends, and consumer behavior to identify potential threats and opportunities, and train the local team on new developments.
Collaboration with operations will be essential to understand the required actions for achieving our overall sustainability targets and contributing to those specific targets. Additionally, you will identify potential new business, innovation opportunities, and threats by collaborating with various teams, such as Group Sustainability, Legal & Operations, and conducting bespoke market research.

This role reports to SMI Director North EMEA, and can be based at either of our North EMEA offices with flexibility to travel to other countries and sites when needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years sustainability experience within packaging or FMCG companies – ideally 5+ years
- Sales experience or customer facing roles
- Action and team oriented
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Highly skilled in analysis, problem solving, and creativity
Furthermore, you have a keen interest in consumer / shopper behaviour, retailing, FMCG supply chains and the fast-changing sales channels, and are passionate about growing businesses in partnership with our customers.
This role requires excellent language skills, oral and written, in English as well as one of our Baltic or Nordic languages.
