- Communicates and demonstrates professional image / attitude for patients, families, clients, coworkers, medical staff, volunteer services, and others.
- Adheres to policies and practices of applicable professional organizations and Ohio County Hospital.
- Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters & demonstrates compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
- Maintains a current master copy of, and is knowledgeable in, Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations and Medical Staff Services Procedure Manual
- Prepares for medical staff meetings, including scheduling, meeting reminders, agenda packets, and recording and processing of meeting minutes.
- Oversees the credentialing and recredentialing of applications for healthcare providers, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate .
- Responsible for verification of credentials including education, training, licenses, certifications, and liability coverage, to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates on-boarding / offboarding of new providers with multiple departments.
- Ensues compliance with State, Federal, and internal regulatory agencies and standards.
- Organizes internal audits, or responds to audits, from regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with credentialing requirements.
- Researching and resolving credentialing issues.
- Responsible for coordination of collaborative meetings between physicians and APRN / PA including pulling patient charts for audits.
- Maintains current confidential peer review files on all medical staff and allied health members.
- Maintains and distributes current reports/documents/database/spreadsheets/rosters pertaining to the Medical Staff and Medical Staff Department/Committee membership.
- Other support services and duties as may be requested by Director, CMO, Medical Staff President, and CEO.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in a relevant field may be preferred.
Experience: at least two years’ experience in healthcare credentialing or a related administrative role is preferred.
Certifications: Certification in credentialing or medical staff services organization or verified training course preferred. Willingness to obtain such certification required.
