Morrow Batteries is seeking a technically proficient and research-driven R&D Product Project Manager to lead the development of next-generation lithium-ion cell chemistry platforms. This role is central to our mission of delivering high-performance, sustainable prismatic cells for GWh-scale production.
You will be responsible for steering cross-functional R&D teams in the development of Morrow’s proprietary chemistry platforms, ensuring alignment with manufacturing scalability, safety, and performance targets. This includes setting the project KPI’s, managing technical resources, and driving collaborative innovation across internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary teams through the full R&D lifecycle—from concept validation to volume manufacturing readiness.
- Define and track technical KPIs, project milestones, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate internal resources and external partnerships to accelerate product development and report progress to key stakeholders.
- Oversee parallel workstreams in materials science and cell design to optimize performance, manufacturability, cost and customer compliance KPIs.
- Facilitate and steer collaborative work between manufacturing and R&D teams to ensure product goals are achieved in production environment.
- Deliver technical documentation and progress reports for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Foster an agile and team empowering culture, focused on excellence and execution.
- Degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or related field with +5 years R&D experience or advanced degree (master’s or PhD) with +2 years’ experience .
- Hands-on experience in lithium-ion battery R&D, including cell design, material selection, and scaling from prototype to production.
- Strong ability to analyze cell performance data (e.g., cycle life, impedance, abuse testing).
- Familiarity with advanced materials (e.g., high-nickel cathodes, silicon anodes, solid-state electrolytes).
- Experience applying quality tools and DOE in battery development and manufacturing.
- Proven leadership in cross-functional technical projects and collaboration with external partners.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong drive to contribute meaningfully to Morrow’s R&D efforts.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to think critically and navigate complex challenges.
- Adaptable and resilient in fast-paced, high-risk environments.
- Fluent in English, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
