INSEAD is seeking an Associate Director, Development to join our Advancement Department. This is a full-time, temporary contract position (until 30 September 2026) based at our Europe Campus in Fontainebleau, France . A hybrid working model is in place – 3 days on campus, 2 days from home.

About The Job

Reporting to the Senior Director Development, you will, as a frontline fundraiser, secure philanthropic contributions ranging from €50K to €1M, from a portfolio of around 150 to 200 prospects within a specific segment, geography (Europe) or reunion cycle. To achieve this, you will need to build strong relationships and engage with potential donors, who are financially successful and influential individuals or organisations (for e.g. alumni, foundations, corporations and other affiliates). You will recognise the importance of understanding donors' interests, passions, and motivations and ensure alignment with the INSEAD's missions and goals.

In addition, you will also be responsible for achieving annual fundraising goals by creating solicitation strategies and working through the INSEAD network of volunteers, National Alumni Associations (NAAs) and leadership.
 

Your role within the team

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of current and prospective major gift donors for INSEAD in Europe
  • Meet defined fundraising targets and objectives, in collaboration with advancement team members 
  • Enter all plans, activity and contacts into the institutional database
  • Manage a pipeline of current and prospective major gift donors in all facets
  •  Prepare comprehensive solicitation plans and proposals
  • Prepare fulsome briefing notes for current and prospective donor meetings
  • Coordinate activity with a team of global professionals, school leaders and senior volunteers to ensure an integrated approach
  • Organize and attend fundraising-related events as necessary and required

The ideal candidate profile

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience, or transferable experience in a high level stakeholder relationship management position, preferably gained at an educational institution.
  • Proven record in major gift (or similar) fundraising (closing gifts/ deals of €50K+). Comprehensive understanding of fundraising and philanthropy within educational institutions.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, with the ability to engage senior executives and philanthropists. Comfortable engaging with very senior-level leaders.
  • Strong storyteller: can translate INSEAD’s mission into a compelling philanthropic investment case.
  • English fluency and French as a strong asset. 
  • Articulate and able to develop a compelling narrative, sometimes with little preparation.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Collaborate closely with team members to find innovative ways to exceed customer expectations.​
  • Experienced in CRM-driven donor management and data-informed strategy.
  • Able to undertake travels within Europe.
