Job Description

IT Architect / Consultant 1, Office of Database, PN 20064574

What You Will Do:

Drives Agency AI Strategy and Design: This role assists in developing and updating the agency's strategic IT plan, specifically focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities to maximize productivity and efficiency. It includes participating in working groups to author the IT AI plan and performing solution design for AI programs.

Develops and Manages Custom Chatbots: A core responsibility is to design, build, and deploy custom chatbots using various platforms like Dialogflow CX and Vertex AI Search & Conversation. This also involves managing and maintaining existing chatbots, updating knowledge bases, and monitoring performance analytics.

Promotes Ethical and Effective AI Use: The consultant establishes and promotes best practices for using AI tools (e.g., Data Privacy, Security, Responsible AI Guidelines) and monitors compliance with organizational policies.

Leads AI Training and User Support: The position involves developing and delivering comprehensive training programs and materials (workshops, guides, videos) for employees on the effective and ethical use of AI. This includes providing front-line support, diagnosing issues, and helping employees craft effective prompts for various AI tools.

Focuses on Process Improvement and Modernization: This role is designated as a reclassification from a Database Admin Specialist 2 and has the working title of AI Productivity Specialist. The primary objective of the duties is to enhance internal workflows and information access through the utilization of AI.

Qualifications

Education Core undergraduate program in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent work experience. AND Experience Minimum 4 years combined work experience in any combination of the following: assisting with development and updates to the strategic Information Technology plan, participating in work groups to author Information Technology plan by discipline/program team and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design for assigned discipline/program team (e.g., software development, infrastructure, database administration, security) including 2 years technology related work experience as specified by the agency position description and vacancy/job posting. This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.
