Position Summary:

This position serves as the welcoming face of the department, greeting and directing visitors with professionalism and warmth. The role provides direct support to the Assistant Dean and Director of Student Affairs, contributing to the smooth coordination and organizational efficiency of the office’s operations. Ideal candidates will be personable, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic academic environment. 


The Student Affairs Coordinator will perform meaningful organization in the office of student affairs, providing support for the office in programs, events, and student recruitment at the College of Nursing (CON). The position provides administrative coordination for assigned duties and serves as a point of contact to graduate and
undergraduate students and prospective students. Provides support for software utilized by the office and other programmatic support for activity scheduling,
reporting, and other issues.


The position also performs a wide variety of office management tasks and serves as a point of contact for faculty and staff on matters related to student affairs, program requirements, policies and procedures, and other administrative matters. The incumbent in this position does inquiries, queries and generates standard reports from university and college systems and produces documents using word processing and spreadsheet software as needed.

Front Desk Relations and Office Concierge:

  • Serves as the welcoming face of the department, greeting visitors, students, faculty, and staff with professionalism and warmth, and efficiently directing them to appropriate personnel or resources. 

Student Support:

  • Act as a central point of contact, offering guidance and assistance with academic, personal, and administrative matters.

Event Planning & Coordination:

  • Assist with and/or organize and implement student events, activities, and orientation programs to foster community and integration within the office of Student Affairs. Implementation of large-scale events such as Pinning, Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Career Fair etc. in conjunction with the College of Nursing’s Event Manager.

Student Staff Supervision:

  • Train and supervise students employed by the office of Student Affairs.

Liaison & Collaboration:

  • Partner with various campus departments, faculty, and administrative units to address student needs and ensure smooth operations of Student Affairs Initiatives.

Administrative Support:

  • Works closely with the Assistant Dean and Director of Student Affairs to promote effective coordination and maintain organizational structure within the office.

Budget Support Responsibilities:

  • Track expenditures and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures and coordinate with Student Affairs leadership to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate records.

Student Travel Support Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate travel authorizations and reimbursements for students traveling as representatives of the CON.
  • Serve as a liaison between travelers and administrative offices to resolve travel-related issues.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma and four years of related experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.

• (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
• (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree;
• (c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
• (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
• (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
• Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
• Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in student program coordination, event planning, and providing administrative support. This position requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, a natural ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and a talent for building rapport quickly. The ideal candidate will be highly student-focused and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with efficiency.
